Stephen Hawking Foundation Dismisses Indian Union Minister’s Claim on Hawking

A founding trustee of the Stephen Hawking Foundation has rebuked recent claims made by Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan about the recently deceased Stephen Hawking. Late last week while speaking at the 105th edition of the Indian Science Congress organized at the Manipur University, Vardhan claimed that Hawking once said that the Vedas might have a theory superior to Einstein’s E=mc2.

In his response, trustee Malcolm Perry said:

“I am not aware of Stephen Hawking making any comment on the Vedas…It is quite possible that he made a reference to the Vedas playfully when discussing creation myths – such as found in the Bible or the Vedas – when comparing them to the now conventional scientific picture of the big bang accompanied by a period of inflation, or perhaps when discussing the noboundary proposal for the creation of the universe…I am certain that he did NOT support the claims made by your minister that ‘our Vedas might have a theory which is superior to Einstein’s theory of E=mc2.”

U -Turn of Modi Government on 2030 Electric Vehicle Vision: Why??

car.jpeg

The Indian government, which was earlier planning to completely revamp the existing fleet of vehicles to electric by 2030, is now mulling changes in its plans. This, notes Factor Daily, is because the automakers in India are lobbying against the step as they find it hasty and unrealistic.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has proposed a more realistic plan as per which India can have 40% electrification by 2030. By the same year, 20% additional vehicles can join the league of hybrids, making the contribution of hybrids and electric vehicles 60%.

The proposal also says that by 2047, when India completes its 100th year of Independence, the country will be able to achieve 100% electrification.
